deannawolAnyone out there, and there are a lot of smarter people out there than me, know the chain of command of the Irish Government? I.E. If something happens the President of the country, who takes command of the country officially? It's just something I'm curious about. Thanks.

Date: 2006-08-20 08:41 pm (UTC)According to Article 14 of the constitution, if there's no president (and this applies also when the president is out of the country for any reason) the presidential powers are discharged jointly by the Ceann Comhairle, the Cathaoirleach of the Seanad, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
There are sufficient loopholes that one could write a decent (though probably not exciting) thriller about it...
