Christmas unravelled...
Dec. 26th, 2006 09:19 pmSo, it's the day after Xmas and it's time for the Xmas fights. Today we fought about politicians, health insurance, the neckline on my clothing and my use of language. One of our visitors is gone and I have my bed to myself again. I hate sharing. Yes, incredibly selfish, I know.
But the plus side of Xmas is my mum's cooking. My mum has singlehandedly fed the neighbourhood when it comes to pies. She is the best cook I know, and excels at baking. Mince pies, apple tartlets, buns, cheesecake... All gorgeous. And enough for about 20 people. Fantastic.
And some good news, as well, it looks like I may escape food poisoning this year. My aunt (the one who always gives me food poisoning every New Years Day) might still be in Belfast! Woo Hoo!
I grew up with the adage of "What you do on New Years Day, you do for the whole year!" Basically any problems you bring into the year will follow you around, so make your peace before the year starts and bury the hatchets before midnight rings in. It's hard to do... but worth it. :)
