I do have to admit that a couple of the throwaway comments in tonight's episode took me by surprise, but given that it was their purpose... I guess that's a good thing.

All in all, I liked this plot arc. I still think that the timing is off for this new incarnation but when it's stretched over a couple of episodes, it works out fairly well. I only had one problem with tonight's episode. Jack didn't look as hot as he usually does. What? I like Jack. I like The Doctor.

The cliffhanger at the end was rather interesting and I'm looking forward to the Christmas Episode.

The choice of music at the start was fantastic and showed up well the complete insanity of the Master. There were a couple of Master/Doctor moments that you can see the slashers out there wetting themselves over but overall it's a rather many-layered relationship that we've only started to scratch the surface of.

Okay, the glassy-eyed red dress wearing woman had her destiny written all over her and it would have been nice for them to go a different way and give us the unexpected ending. But it wasn't bad. Although, why the hell did he keep Martha's family around? They'd been around long enough to come up with a series of gestures which led to mini-revolutions and everything was organised which suggests that it wasn't the first time. Hell, even Jack implied as much. So why not dump them somewhere out of the way. Yes, yes, ego and all but a year of putting up with them?

I loved the "regeneration" - yes not in that way but still losing 900 odd years by psychic energy, what else do you call it? - of the Doctor and the cover story by Martha. That was perfect.

But the best bit ... Jack theorising over getting older and not dying... and throwing in the bit about the Face of Bo! Now that was a clanger and a half!

I preferred Martha to Rose but she was at least smart enough to wander off before he did something like break her heart. But it means we have to break in a new companion. Anyone know why she wandered off? Just cause I'm curious. Demographics or something else?

She's not gone. Freema Agyeman has signed a contract for next season, and has gone on record as saying that. However, she's NDAed into not saying anything more, so we don't know exactly what contract it was she signed :)

Face of Boe revelation completely blew me away. I actually shrieked "Oh my God" at the TV. Of course, my pain-in-the-ass boyfriend, who hated the episode, then had to go rain on my parade saying it was "sadly predictable, no really, so obvious it was coming". Wanker.

I must admit i did say it as a through away line at some point that jack might be the Face of Bo!

So did the face real die in New New York, or will he come back to life?

But hey At least we know how he knew "You are not alone!"

Yes, it was nicely done in retrospect but it was completely throwaway. But nicely done!

I "Holy F*ck"-ed the relevation and no it wasn't predictable really, because there were no real clues and a couple of red herrings.

Hmmm... Interesting on the contract thing. Maybe she's just opting out of the Xmas episode and a fully regular slot. I mean, she's given him the phone and told him that if it rings, he'd better be there but... it was a little more dismissive than just "call back in a couple of weeks and I'll go with you".

Yeah, I'm seeing it as possibly more of a returning gurst spot, than co-starring role. Or it could be wiffly for a few episodes, and then Big Plot Device happens that has her travelling with him again.

Cos I don't understand why Freema Agyeman would leave this job opportunity so readily and so soon.

From what i've seen on the BBC website, it looks like Martha will definitely not be in the Christmas Episode, but she'll be back as a recurring character next season. she'll also be showing up in Torchwood, tho :-)
