Kellen Daniels did not dance. Kellen Daniels did not hum. Kellen Daniels did not sing along to the radio. He did not tap his foot. And he didn't have a song for working out the perfect timing for preventing barrel jams. All the above were facts. Everyone knew that. However, the truth was something different and only two people knew that.

Tan had taken advantage of a momentary lapse in concentration one day to ask him about the songs and contrary to popular opinion, Kell didn't avoid the question. He sat him down and told him that he learned to dance while in a gang. It was just a way to earn extra money. The reason he doesn't do it more, is that it's a harsh reminder of where he came from and what he had to pull himself out of. And that's why he'll only dance with one person. It'll take a while before dancing stops being about the gutter and starts being about love and commitment.

He tells his lover about the few memories of his mother and how she used to sing along to the radio while she worked. Country and Western mostly but usually whatever was on the radio. He shares the few memories of how wonderful her voice was and how he still misses her.

However, the hardest story to tell was the story about the firing song. He tells Tan about his first adventures with rifles and his first disaster, showing him the faint spiderweb of scars that accompanies the story. It was so different to the simple handguns. Slide action, repeating, who knew what else. And it kept jamming, catching on the webbing of his hand. So one of the older guys had taken him aside and taught him the most annoying song.

At first, Kell had tried to change the song over the years but it never worked. And so, he was stuck with it. And every year, Kell pays a visit to the man's grave. But for the first year, he won't be alone.

That's cause he never shared until now. It came out rather abstract, and very odd, but it's strangly compelling. He's got a rather odd history and doesn't share it too often. Tan's kinda lucky.

Its kinda sweet that Kellan had a mentor
Although a mentor who teaches you the best way to shot lots of people probably isn't a good choice.

He spent the years between 10 and 16 in a gang. Gangs have turf wars and people with morals don't do well in turf wars. He was planning on going military but it didn't work out. Large sections of history missing from files means that you don't pass the initial background checks. Only one thing left, being a bloody good Merc.
