To the guys coming on Saturday:

If any of you have a Windows XP disk, could you please bring it along?  One of my computers died yesterday and I can't find mine. 

Alternatively, if anyone knows how to solve a "NTLDR is compressed" error message...?

If u have a licence you should be able to find an ISO on the intertubes. Will try and look later when I am not stuck on the phone.

My problem was I couldn't find my licence key.

Don't need licence key, just need a disk I can boot off of. I need to get to the recovery console apparently.

Then suggest you download an ISO from the Internet.

just i don't have a disk. People might have a recovery disc, don't know if that will work.

Yup, asking for a disk because it looks like the only way. I have the files saved off from before and have successfully burnt them to disk but it won't get past the verifying stage on the burn this time. I have an iso and it don't burn either and I only have one machine that's got a working writer.
