Drabble Text: Sharkey Vs. Lex - Part 1
Mar. 31st, 2004 09:43 amK, inspired by last nights Cyberpunk Game.
Lex gets home and finds Sharkey! The following is what ensues :) Boy did he pick a bad time!
Her ribs ached, her hand throbbed, her knee was about five seconds away from crumpling as she left the combat cab. She tossed the driver a cred chip, knowing that there was more than enough on it to cover the ride. Sansygh was definately rubbing off on her, Lex thought to herself. She stood on the doorstep bracing herself for reentry to the place that had led her to undertake the events of the past day.
'I could just silently sneak in', she thought. 'But then she remembered Shadow, gonna be useless trying to sneak past him. He always catches me! Oh well, I guess there is nothing else for it.'
Lex walks up to the front door and opens it. She walks up the stairs. As she is half way up, she hears the sound she was dreading.
"Lex, that you?" Shadows voice carried down the stairs.
"Yeah, what's up." She tried to sound cheerful.
"Need a suit, old one got fragged, remember?"
"Sure, I'll just drop stuff and we can head, alright?"
"Sure! You okay, Lex?" Shadow sees the bandage on Lex's hand.
"Yeah, had some trouble, over now." Lex tried to avoid the questions that could follow.
"You win?"
"Yeah, sort of."
"Good."
Shadow had a simplistic way of viewing things like combat. As long as the other guy looked worse than you did, you won. Lex sighed inwardly, the other guys sure looked worse.
She continued her trek up the stairs, opened her door and walked in. There was someone in her bed. Too tall to be Sansygh and she found it quite doubtful that Sansygh had a sudden growth spurt. Lex put her bags on the ground and removed a gun from one of the bags. Lex decided to go with the P.O.S. She didn't really want to kill him. It would mess up the sheets. But her had paid enough for the gun that from the view that Sharkey was going to get ... He wasn't going to know the difference.
He woke as the cold steel pressed against his temple.
"You don't call! You don't write! Every morning I scan the screamsheets for your name cause that's the only way I'll know if you're dead or not, and now I find you in my bed as if nothing happened. You've got some nerve, Pizda!"
Lex was fuming. Sharkey had gone off for nearly two weeks. The first Lex had known about it was when he had called over his shoulder that he had to go help some friends as he walked out the door. She could deal with him on other jobs, she could deal with not knowing. But it only took two seconds to log onto a data term and write a two line message to let her know that he was okay. Maybe she would have a chat to Umbra and see how she manages to get Fuge to do it.
"Lex, honey, eh ... I got you a present?! It's a genuine crocadile Prada handbag!" Sharkey backpeddled, not used to seeing his girlfriend pulling a gun on him.
"Please, that was so last season. If you wanted to buy me off, you should have done some homework beforehand. That's what shop assistants are for you know! Sharkey, you can't just walk in here and expect me to fall into bed with you even if you do try and pay me off. It doesn't work that way. We got this little thing called communication, don't think you heard of it! I'm sure you can buy a chip on it somewhere!"
"But ..."
"And another thing, outta my bed. You got the couch!"
Lex turned on her heel and left the speechless Sharkey and the room behind. This was all she needed right now!
