So, last night as part of the weekly gaming session, and at an unfortunate lull in the ongoing campaign, I ran a "favourite characters" game. Basically, the premise was that you pick your favourite character from any past game (campaign or once off). We got a rather eclectic mix:

  • Sansygh/The Pix - A sculpted and genetically reengineered pixie from Cyberpunk-Shadowrun-Torg crossover
  • Quodrah - A Narn diplomat from Babylon 5 (season 1) - I can't spell, deal!
  • Luisa - A Vodacce woman of dubious virtue and fate witch from 7th Sea
  • Crowbar/Jason Webb - A government agent who had posed as a solo to infiltrate an existing group from Cyberpunk-Shadowrun-Torg crossover

So, a fairly good setup for a game. Thanks to the mechanisms that had been introduced into the old Cyberpunk Campaign that I used to play (namely: reality from Torg) I kinda dumped them into the Cyberpunk world shortly after the fall of the metahumans. Now, this was fine for the Pix - she'd only got dumped forward less than a year. The Narn was dumped back over 200 years and the Vodacce was dumped forward about 300 years or so.

Everything was going grand, well mostly, until reality cracked again and they got dumped in another recycled world. This time, it was the one from Kult. So from Night City to Boston, Mass. Kult, for those who don't know it, is Cthulhu's darker, eviler sister. And the campaign in particular inspired the following pieces of fiction {link} - Just to give you a taste of it. Anyway, things tried to attack them and they ran away valiently. Course, when you use a shotgun to someone's head and it doesn't really do anything, then you're probably better running away. From there, they went to 17th Century middle of the ocean to meet up with the crew of a nice boat on the way to the Midnight Archipeligo in the nice world of Theah from 7th Sea. They meet another of my characters {link} so they could get sent home.

On a side note, I did get to bring Anne (Kult character) and Sophia/Jim (7th Sea character) into the game. I always liked playing Anne. She's so straight forward. Of course, when you add in all her weird attributes and things that she picked up in various games from rolling critical failures, she gets to be a little ... odd. But still fun! Jim-lad or Sophia is very much suited for a cabin boy ("Yes, Sir. Course, Sir.") She was a little Radar-like (MASH) which was fun. I am quite proud of myself for keeping Lex underwraps until the closing scenes.

All in all, it was fun to go back to worlds I haven't visited for a while. Definately worth doing.

Right, going through my list of ebooks I have compiled the following list of authors. Problem is that I haven't read most of them. I've heard of most but not read them. So anyone who has, can ye give me some recommendations? Thanks.

Cut for length )

Also, if anyone wants any of the ebooks - feel free to ask about what books I have. ^_^
